My earliest memory would be the first instance of this phenomenon I would have experienced. Thus I would not have a second instance to contrast it with and thus abstract the essential characteristics and thus conceptualize it as a “memory”. I might have mind matter of perceptions of this event but by definition I can’t know my first memory as we would use the word with its denotations and connotations.
